Lynsey and Roy's fantastic wedding at The Gibside Chapel and The South Casey Inn

2011 sees the return of the blog...First up...it was the 3rd of June...the sun was shining high in the sky...what a fabulous day to get wed...Lynsey and Roy congratulations!! Whilst Greg met the lads to get photos of them getting suited and booted, the day started for me and the girls in Halo in Dunston a superb hairdressing salon..full of character!!! lots of photos getting ready, with the uberly talented hairdresser and make up artist..all of the girls looked fab...on to Lynsey's mom and dads house to continued to get ready and into the fabulous dress.....then the camper van journey to the Gibside chapel, georgeous venue...and onto another favorite, the South Causey Inn..Superb day had by all!! Last weekend I had the pleasure of going to Lorraine and Steve's house to get some shots of Lauren, Connor and Steven. Lorraine asked me to get some shots of the youngsters as a birthday present for her Mam. Starting with the gorgeous backdrop of Lorraine's garden, with the sun still shining strong on the Sunday evening we got some lovely photos of the three grandchildren. We then moved inside where we got the studio lights out for a couple of high key shots.

It's grandma's birthday this Sunday, Lorraine is off to find a frame for her favourite photo....So if you know her....shhhhh.....its a surprise....

Cath and Chris Pre wedding shoot at Saltwell Park

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Cath and Chris at Saltwell Park in Gateshead to get some Pre-wedding shots. Cath and Chris are getting married later this year and they wanted a photo to use as a signing board at their wedding reception. It was a lovely evening and the sun continued to shine well after 8pm. We had a nice walk around the park using different locations to get some lovely photos. Cath and Chris are a fab couple and I can't wait to photograph their big day later this year at Beamish Park!

Back in May I photographed Helen and Stuart's wedding. The day started with Helen getting ready at her mum's house in Consett. The transport to the church was by a VW camper van from Lovedub Cars, a brilliant idea which added a bit extra to their big day. First Stop was the wonderful church in Shotley Bridge where the service took place before the wedding party moved on to Ramside Hall. Lots of photos in the sunshine followed before everybody went inside for the speeches, including a moving tribute to the bride and grrom from chief bridesmaid Rebecca. Helen and Stuart then proceeded to cut their Cheese cake. Truly excellent, a cheeseboard, in the style of a wedding cake! The party went on to the early hours dancing the night away to Ask Ruby. A truly excellent day, thanks to Helen and Stuart for allowing me to capture their wedding day. A few of the photos are below with more over on the Lovephoto Facebook page.

Lucy and Ross

I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Lucy and Ross's big day on the 21st May 2010. We started off at Lucy's mom's house in Corbridge where Lucy and the bridesmaids were getting their hair and makeup done, lots of laughter coming from the house as all the girls got ready. Not forgetting a verse of happy birthday for one of the bridesmaids!! Once ready and Lucy had her gorgeous dress on, it was time to climb in the open top car for the short trip to St Andrews Church in the centre of Corbridge. After a fantastic ceremony including singing and piano playing, Lucy and Ross left the church (and the crowds that had gathered to watch) and headed to the wonderful Langley Castle for the reception. The sun continued to shine throughout the rest of the day and was enjoyed by all. After getting a few shots of the first dance, unfortunately it was time for me to leave, So I left all the guests dancing into the early hours to the superb music by a local band Jamshak Many thanks to Lucy and Ross for letting me capture their beauiful wedding day, if you know the bride and groom then they have the password to their full gallery. Sarah and Matt are getting married in September, I have known Sarah for many years and Matt for a few days...Sarah and Matt from Birmingham made the trip up North to Prudhoe to visit me, Christina and the kids and of course to introduce her most excellent fiance Matt! Whilst here, in between drinking, showing Matt the night time sights of Prudhoe (or "Prudah", as Matt was corrected) and the street BBQs, we manged to head off to Rocker beach to get a few Pre-wedding shots. It was a hot hot day...all coming back a bit brown or red!! Great to see you Sarah and a Pleasure to meet you Matt...Look forward to the wedding later on in the year!

After a really sunny Saturday, how the weather changed for my shoot on Sunday morning......

Heading over to Corbridge to meet up with the lovely Zoe and Lee, it started spitting, by the time I got down to the riverside to meet up with the happy couple and their adorable children the rain had stopped. Lets shoot......and as soon as the camera was out of the bag, the rain began to fall....We managed about 20 minutes before it got really wet and cold, so headed back to the warmth of the cars to rearrange a Pre-wedding shoot part 2!

And it wasn't long before the Corbridge ducks came looking for their bread!

Last Saturday morning, I headed down to one of my favourite locations for photos, Prudhoe Riverside Park, where I met up with Andy and Emily, who are brother and sister from Prudhoe. Andy and Emily were after a few shots as a surprise present for their mam's birthday. So a few individual shots, a few of the brother and sister together followed by trying to get a few of their adorable dog....unfortunately I had forgotten my treats!Now remember people, its a surprise present, so if you know Andy and Emily's mam...sshhhh.......

Rachel and Laura's shoot

So on to my second shoot of the sunny Saturday, staying around Prudhoe, this time it was with the wonderful Rachel and Laura. After my plea for models a couple of weeks back to practise a bit of my posing skills on, these two ladies were up for the task.

Our first location on the Saturday afternoon was the old Prudhoe hospital, using the fence that surrounds the building site as a background...the lovely NHS blue and whites........

We then moved a bit closer to the old buildings......with the crows flying above us...was a little bit spooky.......

Until the shoot was brought to a quick stop at this location as we were spotted and informed we were trespassing....quick run.........

So in the car for the short drive down to the woods by Prudhoe castle.........

and then another short journey to the riverside to grab the last few shots of the evening. A massive thank you to the wonderful models Rachel and Laura! Lots more of the shoot photos can be found on the Lovephoto Facebook page.

Photoshoot with Alix

Nice and early last Saturday morning I had a shoot with Alix. It was a bright and sunny morning, we started the shoot at Highfield skate park, an excellent location to get a few urban portraits with the graffiti on the back of the skate ramps.

After a few shots there, we headed on down to Prudhoe Riverside park, where we made use of the underside of the "shaky" bridge. It was a great shoot with some fab results, a few shots here and a few more on the Lovephoto Facebook page.

Helen and Stuart's Pre-Wedding Shoot at Allensford near Consett

Today I had the absolute pleasure of heading down from Prudhoe to Allensford, which isnt to far from Consett. I met up with the gorgeous couple Helen and Stuart for their Pre-wedding shoot. After going over a few of the details for their big day we went to Allensford country Park and got a few photos of the happy couple, not forgeting Jimmy,their adorable Jack Russell getting in on a few of the shots. It was a really windy day, but luckily we just about finished before the rain came. I am really looking forward to photographing their wedding a bit later in the year. If you are lucky enough to know the Bride and Groom to be, it sounds like it is going to be wonderful day. Here are just the first few photos from the session, with lots more to follow.

Commercial Portraits

A while ago I was asked to take a few portraits for Walker Graham Pharma consulting Ltd
I travelled up to Morpeth to meet Paul, Indira, Bev and Andrew. I took a few shots of each of them followed by some group shots. The photos will be used for the company website, promotional literature and industry publications. Here is just one of the shots that Walker Graham have used.

Aimee's Portrait Shoot

I had the pleasure of taking some shots of Aimee in Prudhoe at the weekend. We were looking for somewhere local to do some funky fashion type shots, Amy came up with the idea of using Prudhoe Castle as a backdrop, unfortunately when we arrived on Saturday morning it was all closed up! So plan B, we took a few shots around the area by the castle and when it got a bit cold we headed back to Amiee's house for a couple of studio type shots. Aimee was great to work with and we ended up with some great shots, here is a few of my favorites.

121 Training with Henry Aarvold

This morning I spent a 121 training session with a great photographer, Henry Aarvold. I had a great time going back to basics and having a refresher lesson about lighting and posing. I will be able to apply everything I have learned today to both my wedding and portrait photography.

It was a freezing cold (-2C) sunday morning and the location was down at Exhibition Park in Newcastle, the sunlight was diffused by the snow filled clouds and was perfect to get some great shots of our model, Debbie.

Starting in the old bandstand using the natural light and then retreating to the subway just as the snow started to fall to do some basic off camera flash shots.

After we finished the practical training, myself and Henry headed to a cafe in jesmond to get ourselves warmed up with soup and a coffee, using the time to review the morning and chat about the photography business.

Many thanks to Henry and Debbie for making the trip out in the Artic Conditions!

I can't believe my last blog post was back in September! The blog has been well and truly neglected. Hopefully you have been keeping up to date from the Facebook and Twitter pages. One of my New Years Resolutions for 2010 will be to post at least once weekly to the blog with all shoots and events.
I will put together a best of 2009 and post on the blog soon....

I had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca and Stephen at Slaley Hall last week. This is the stunning venue they have chosen for their wedding in October. After having a chat about the photos they want taking on their big day, we had a walk around the hotel and lovely grounds to get a few shots. Sarah and Anthony's Wedding

It was my pleasure to be asked by Anthony to photograph his and Sarah's wedding. The wedding took place at The Christ Church in Yardley Wood, Birmingham on a wonderful August Summers day. The wedding Festival then began at Alcester Rugby club, Marquees, Pig roast, Celidh dancing and a most excellent live band took the dancing into the early hours. The party continued the next day with a folk band and a Karaoke. Unfortunatly I could only make the saturday as we had the long journey back up north to make. The wedding was a truly magical time, massive congratulations to Sarah and Anthony.
